Desktop publishing
Why translated layouts break.
Translated text is rarely the same length as the source. A brochure translated from English can run noticeably longer or shorter, which breaks line breaks, pagination and page balance. Desktop publishing rebuilds the translated document inside your original design so it looks as intended.
Our DTP team handles right-to-left scripts, non-Latin typography, font substitution, and pagination.
InDesign, Illustrator, Word and PowerPoint.
We work in:
- Adobe InDesign (IDML and INDD)
- Illustrator and Photoshop
- Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
We can also rebuild PDFs from source.
Print-ready delivery
Your quotation confirms the output files and any print preparation included. Share the intended use and printer specifications before work begins. DTP is often combined with document translation in one project.
Right-to-left and non-Latin typesetting.
We handle right-to-left scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew, and non-Latin typography including Chinese, Japanese and Korean, Indic scripts and Thai. That includes font substitution where the original font does not support the target script. See Arabic translation and English to Arabic translation.
Frequently asked questions.
Which files do you accept?
We list IDML, INDD, AI, PSD, DOCX, PPTX and PDF among our working formats. Where available, send the editable source files with linked graphics and font information. If you have only a PDF, we assess whether reconstruction is needed before quoting.
Do you handle Arabic and Hebrew layouts?
Arabic and Hebrew need right-to-left layout as well as suitable fonts. Send a sample layout and tell us the target language and output format so we can assess script direction, mixed-language text, tables and page layout.
What do I get back?
The quotation specifies the editable files, PDF or other output included. Tell us whether the document is for print or screen and supply any printer specifications. Recreating a file from a scan or PDF may involve a separate preparation step.
Request a typesetting quote.
We aim to respond within two business hours, Monday to Friday, South African time. Your written quote confirms the price for the agreed files, requirements and delivery date.
