About the Norwegian language.
Norwegian is the official language of Norway. It has two official written standards: Bokmål, used by most Norwegians, and Nynorsk, used mainly in western Norway. It is a North Germanic language written in the Latin alphabet, with the extra letters æ, ø and å.
Most business and official content uses Bokmål. Some municipalities and readers use Nynorsk. Tell us which one your reader expects, or send an example. Norwegian is not Danish or Swedish. Written Bokmål is close to Danish, but official and business documents need the right language. Æ, ø and å matter in names and addresses. We keep them exactly as written.
Norwegian to English is usually personal, civil, academic and company documents. English to Norwegian is usually business, technical, energy and marketing content.
Common Norwegian documents include birth certificates, marriage certificates, degree certificates and police clearance certificates. A certified translation is available for these. If an authority asks for a sworn translation, ask us to confirm availability for the language pair.
