About the Danish language.
Danish is the official language of Denmark, and is also used in the Faroe Islands and Greenland. It is a North Germanic language written in the Latin alphabet, with the extra letters æ, ø and å. Written Danish is close to Norwegian Bokmål and fairly close to Swedish.
Danish is not Norwegian or Swedish. Scandinavian readers can often follow each other's languages, but official and business documents need the right language. Æ, ø and å are separate letters and matter in names and addresses. We keep them exactly as written. Danish joins words into long compounds, which can affect layouts and forms.
Danish to English is usually personal, civil, academic and company documents. English to Danish is usually business, technical and marketing content.
Common Danish documents include birth certificates, marriage certificates, degree certificates and police clearance certificates. A certified translation is available for these. If an authority asks for a sworn translation, ask us to confirm availability for the language pair.
