Translating qualifications for study and work abroad.
The most common academic request is not a thesis. It is a set of qualification documents for a university application, a work visa or professional registration abroad. Receiving institutions usually want a sworn translation of each document.
- Academic transcript translation: the detailed record of modules and marks.
- Degree certificate translation: proof that the qualification was awarded.
- Diploma translation: tertiary, N diplomas and trade qualifications.
- Matric certificate translation, school leaving certificate translation and statement of results translation.
- Professional qualification certificate translation: for registration with professional bodies.
Translation is not evaluation. A translation makes a document readable. It does not say what the qualification is worth. Completed tertiary qualifications are verified by SAQA, while some diplomas are verified by the Department of Higher Education and Training, and occupational and trade qualifications can fall under the QCTO or the relevant SETA. Our document pages explain which body handles which qualification. Degree titles are translated faithfully, not “converted” into a local equivalent.
Research and teaching content.
- Theses, dissertations and journal articles: translated by linguists who work in the field as well as the language.
- Conference papers and abstracts: often needed quickly and within a fixed word limit.
- E-learning and course materials: including localisation of learning platforms and subtitling for recorded lectures.
- School communications: letters, policies and reports for parents in their home language.
How we work.
- Your choice of three quality tiers. For publication we recommend translation plus a full proofread.
- A named project manager and a written quote. A project manager replies within two business hours.
- Consistent terminology across a thesis or course, through translation memory and termbases.
The Education & Academic standard.
Academic translation requires both linguistic precision and disciplinary fluency. Our translators work in their field of study as well as their language.
