About the Wayuu language.
Wayuu (Wayuunaiki) is the language of the Wayuu people of the La Guajira peninsula, which is shared between Colombia and Venezuela, including Riohacha, Uribia and Manaure in Colombia and the state of Zulia and the city of Maracaibo in Venezuela. The Wayuu are the largest Indigenous people of both countries. It is an Arawakan language.
Wayuunaiki is written in the Latin alphabet, using spelling standards developed for bilingual education in both countries. Under Colombia's constitution, Indigenous languages are official in their own territories alongside Spanish.
Colombian and Venezuelan official documents are issued in Spanish, which we also translate. Wayuu work is usually health, education and community information, consultations and research, cultural material, and interpreting.
We translate and interpret in both directions, including Wayuu into English or Spanish. A certified translation is available for these. If an authority asks for a sworn translation, ask us to confirm availability for the language pair.
