About the Tahitian language.
Tahitian (Reo Tahiti) is the main Polynesian language of French Polynesia, spoken on Tahiti and the other Society Islands. It is an Austronesian language, related to Māori and Hawaiian, and is written in the Latin alphabet. French is the official language and is spoken alongside it. It is taught in schools in French Polynesia and heard on local radio and television.
Tahitian marks long vowels with a macron and uses an apostrophe-like letter for the glottal stop. These change meaning, so we deliver fully marked text checked by a native reader.
French official documents are issued in French, which we also translate. Tahitian work is usually cultural and education material, public information, tourism and marketing content, and personal documents.
We translate in both directions, including Tahitian into English or French. A certified translation is available for these. If an authority asks for a sworn translation, ask us to confirm availability for the language pair.
